Saara Kinnunen was one of the finalists of the Jewellery of the Year 2024 competition. Saara Kinnunen's Rantapolulla jewellery series is inspired by her love for Finnish nature and especially meadow flowers, that have fascinated her for years. The design of the jewellery series took her to the landscapes of her childhood summers, when she admired the modest beauty of meadow flowers.

Saara was fascinated by the change of shape of the flowers. "I remember marveling at that modest meadow flower that experienced an incredibly beautiful transformation. The flower bud consisted of tight little petals, and when it opened, a beautiful pale lilac flower appeared, delicate and tender, as well as a little effervescent," she describes.

Saara wanted to bring that airiness to her jewellery, reflecting the cycle of nature.

"I wanted to create a summery meadow atmosphere and the beauty of natural forms in the jewellery. I also aimed for the figure of that flower moving in the wind and the play of light and shadow", she explains the starting points of her design.
